Somewhere in between Patrick Bateman and Benito Mussolini stands Gavin Newsom. He is a buffoonish Hollywood archetype of the lowest order; straight out of central casting for greasy politician. He has chronically failed up his entire life, hitting the snooze button on his 15 minutes of fame for nearly 3 decades. But time is running out. Sparkle Beach Ken Doll has lost his sparkle, and only a small contingent of vain, naive, stupid-smart people still believe he has a chance. The fact that the imbecile Scott Galloway thinks Newsom will be the candidate should be the most definitive proof that Gavin ain’t the pick. Galloway is like the Jim Cramer of politics; always bet on the opposite of what he says. Actually, Polymarket should make an Inverse-Galloway investment bot like Autopilot’s Inverse-Cramer; I could make a fortune!
Nevertheless, with all of Gavin Newsom’s high-profile negatives, why do some people seem so convinced he’s the guy? He’s not the guy. Everyone outside of California sees him as a clown. He gets shut out of meetings and ignored. Folks in Congress laugh when you mention his name. Nobody in DC can raise a dime invoking his name as a threat. By contrast, if you say “AOC is coming”, Republican donors will stroke checks faster than Gavin can snort a line off an intern’s tuchus.
Everybody presumes he will be the nominee simply because…everyone presumes he will be the nominee; it’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy. He doesn’t have any genuine support. He doesn’t have a loyal base. Democrats simply tolerate him. If he were to vanish tomorrow, nobody would be sad. Nobody would ask where he went, nor when he’s coming back. He doesn’t have any supporters, he doesn’t have a movement behind him, no cohesive dogma that activists could champion, no legacy, no coherent policy at all, actually. If you were to poll anyone, even people who’ve repeatedly voted for him, and asked them “what does Gavin Newsom believe in?”, nobody could tell you.
He is the ultimate shapeshifter, sticking his wet finger to the political winds in a cynical calculation that guides every word he says. He will say one thing to one audience, then immediately say the exact opposite to another, depending on what he believes they want to hear. He is shameless in his contradictions, to a point where you have to believe he either has no short term memory, or he is a legitimate sociopath. He lies so effortlessly, I think he could actually pass a lie detector test. Lying doesn’t seem to affect him at all. His pulse doesn’t race, his palms don’t sweat like any normal person. He has no scruples, he has no morals, he doesn’t believe in anything…in fact, the only thing Gavin Newsom believes in…is Gavin.
The vanishing minority of people who believe that Gavin is the heir apparent are essentially just persuaded by his buffoonish self-confidence and hubris. The fact that he believes so much in himself, for some voters, is enough, but there’s not enough of them to matter. The only real support Gavin has is in Hollywood. Many may hear that and think that’s some formidable base. It’s not, honestly. Now, it’s certainly a money-printing machine, and that’s not to be underestimated in the political world. But there’s a specific reason why Hollywood supports him when nobody else does; he looks like who they would cast to play the President in a movie. That’s it. That’s the entire reason.
Looks carry a lot of weight in Hollywood, and rightfully so, in many cases. The reason you cast certain people with a certain look to play villains or heroes is because their face gives you an emotional shortcut; it informs the audience how they should feel about that character, just as the blue and red light sabers in Star Wars tell you instantly who’s good and evil, respectively. This bias towards looks isn’t confined to Hollywood, nor is it necessarily just a byproduct of conditioning; it’s an innate bias, even in toddlers. Studies have shown that kids automatically believe that their pretty teachers are better, more positive, and students are more willing to participate in their class activities than with the uglies. This is called the “halo” effect.
This is the underlying thesis behind “looksmaxxing”, the trend of sociopathic weaponized autistic vanity made famous by Clavicular (who supports Gavin, simply because he “mogs”). The thing is…Clavicular’s thesis is not wrong. Good looks do get you further in life, and oftentimes much further than you deserve. Gavin Newsom is a shining, greasy example of this. I’ve never seen a turd rise so effortlessly as Gavin. His hair has been stroking checks his brain cannot cash for 30 years. He ran San Francisco, and ran it into the ground. He was an absolute train wreck as Mayor. He consistently ran up a catastrophic deficit, homelessness skyrocketed, human feces littered the streets, and Gavin would routinely blow up on reporters in his infamous hissy fits anytime they asked him basic questions that he found inconvenient.
Then there were the character issues…namely, when he banged his best friend’s wife while he was still married to Kim Guilfoyle. Alex Tourk was Gavin’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Campaign Manager, and Gavin plowed his wife for months, behind his back. Now, despite breaking up his best friend’s marriage, and racking up an atrocious record of failure in San Francisco in his first term…Gavin was re-elected.
He then ascended to Lieutenant Governor, and Governor, where he’s served 2 terms, but won election 3 times (he won a recall). While he technically keeps racking up electoral victories, nobody actually likes him…except Hollywood. They’re truly enamored with the fact that he is straight out of central casting. The problem is, he’s not just central casting for President…he’s also central casting for the insufferable 80’s comedy douchebag we all grew up hating. That is the Hollywood archetype the rest of America sees when they look at Gavin, including the big wigs in the democrat party.
So who does the establishment actually want to be the democrat nominee for President? I happen to know this answer, because all the biggest democrat donors supported my campaign for Mayor, and they told who they’re supporting.
