Whenever too many people benefit from a problem, it’s guaranteed to never be solved. It’s very important that we have confidence in our system, because when people feel like the system is rigged, they check out, they stop voting, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Hundreds of thousands of republicans sat out the primary election this year because they don’t trust the system and they feel like their votes don’t get counted. Whether or not that’s accurate…they feel it, and they have many reasons to be skeptical. The election laws in California are absolutely insane, like beyond 3rd world status. We take a month to count the votes; slow counting is universally considered a major red flag for fraud. The mail-in ballots bring a whole host of other issues.
In 2020, California used the excuse of Covid to implement universal mail-in balloting, meaning every single registered voter has a ballot mailed to their mailbox, whether they want it or not. Now, I know what you’re thinking…didn’t the New York Times report that mail-in ballots are the least secure method of voting, and the most vulnerable to fraud? Well yes, of course. Anytime you have dozens of human handling a ballot in between the voter and the tabulator, you have dozens of opportunities for fraud. We have lots of rules about what you can and can’t do around polling sites; electioneering, intimidation, and campaigning are all banned, of course. But when you have universal mail-in ballots, now everyone’s home is a polling site. There are still rules, but when you have 5 million polling sites…how can you possibly monitor or enforce them?
A ballot is a powerful thing. Universal mail-in balloting is like sending out live ammo to millions of unlocked mailboxes. What stops bad actors from just taking the ballots and casting them for whomever they want? Well…nothing. What stops campaign employees from intimidating and manipulating people for their ballots? Paying them for their ballots? Filling out their ballots for them? Well…nothing! Even if we were to pretend that all the thousands of DSA street animals going door-to-door for their communist candidates are all acting above board (they’re not)…the whole process stinks, and there’s no reason for it to be this clunky and archaic in the first place.
The solution is so simple. Mail ballots need to be banned. They’re too vulnerable to fraud. It’s also a laughably inefficient and primitive system. We should be voting by phone. All of our phones have high level security and biometric ID, with face and fingerprint recognition. We already use our phones for banking, medical records, TSA, crypto…if it’s secure enough for all of that, it’s secure enough for voting. Every phone vote will be posted to a public ledger, anonymously, with a unique ID that only you possess, so you can go online to the ledger and validate that your vote was counted, and every item you voted for was properly cast. The results would be perfect and instantaneous, with results at 8PM on election night, the moment polls close. Not only would the vote be more secure, more efficient, and more accurate…turnout would skyrocket. This is a 360 win, and there’s literally no good reason to not vote this way in the modern era…unless of course…you don’t want the fraud to stop.
